Priya Karki is New York-based and founder of 8th Day Whisper.

Priya spent years building a career in finance before making a deliberate leap into the performing arts, bringing the same discipline and ambition with her. Born in New Delhi and raised across multiple countries, she brings an international perspective to her work on stage and on screen. She made her acting debut in Boston before relocating to New York, where she's since worked across theater, film and commercial projects as an actor, director, choreographer and producer, having done nearly every job a production needs along the way.

She was last seen onstage at The Players Theatre in the New York premiere of “A Girl in a Long Coat”, and on screen in the 2025 short film “Perfectly Seasoned”.

Through 8th Day Whisper, she's investing directly in independent theatre in Manhattan. Her first production is Halley Feiffer's I'm Gonna Pray for You So Hard, in which she'll also perform the role of Ella.

Why “8th Day Whisper”

When I finally left the world of finance to pursue acting in 2024, it was really scary. Starting over from scratch, not knowing what would come next or how any of it would unfold. So many unknowns! But it all began with listening to the whisper inside of me, a calling I couldn't ignore, a pull I could feel life pushing me toward. Thus the name.

Scripture tells us the world was made in seven days. The eighth is the beginning no one saw coming. A new era, unwritten.

And a whisper is how that kind of beginning tends to arrive. Not a shout. Intuition. A calling. God's gentle, intimate way of speaking to us, quiet enough that only the ones listening hear it.

That's who we are.

We give life to stories that unsettle something in you, gently, and make you recognize ideas and beliefs you'd never questioned before. Stories built to outlast the room they're told in, taking the shape of new ideas and new conversations that lead to transformation, a new wave of thinking waiting to be written.

It's also how we choose what to make. We don't chase what's loud or obvious. We listen for the whisper, the story that won't let go of us and we follow it.

We are an independent New York production company, founded by actor, director and producer Priya Karki.

We love the magic that happens when a few people, a small space, and a great story come together. Every decision we make, begins with the same question, “What does this story need?”

We bring together talented, generous people, actors, directors, designers, and technicians and create teams that feel as invested in the journey as they are in the final production.

Our first production is Halley Feiffer's darkly comic play I'm Gonna Pray for You So Hard, coming to New York in October 2026. Priya is producing and will also perform the role of Ella.
